HISTORY AND OVERVIEW

HISTORY AND OVERVIEW

National Honor Society was founded in 1921 with the intention to create an organization that would recognize and encourage academic achievement while developing characteristics essential to citizens of a democracy. The four pillars of National Honor Society - character, scholarship, leadership, and service - are an integral part of our organization today.

The Aliso Niguel High School Chapter of National Honor Society was founded at the inception of ANHS in 1993.  The Chapter is respected by administrators, faculty members, and the community because of its reputation for excellence and integrity. Our members demonstrate that they are willing to take advantage of the excellent opportunities offered to them by the school and community, and they reciprocate by volunteering their time and talent. Members' participation in various service activities distinguishes the ANHS Chapter and demonstrates its four pillars. Thus, membership is both an honor and a commitment. Currently, the Aliso Niguel Chapter boasts nearly 150 such distinguished members.

As one of the nation's foremost honor societies, National Honor Society promotes recognition for students who achieve outstanding accomplishments. Admission deans from around the United States regard membership in National Honor Society as a valid indicator that the applicant will succeed at the postsecondary education level. National Honor Society members are evidence that younger generations are interested in using their talents to present a positive effect on society. Membership in National Honor Society is denoted on students' transcripts and diplomas upon their graduation from Aliso Niguel High School.
